He is confident that his new app SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 2 – Kirk Whalum edition is a unique and powerful creative tool for improvising musicians.
If you are a musician, whatever your instrument and whatever your skill level, here’s your chance to win an exclusive one-on-one ‘improvisation’ masterclass with the master of improvisation himself.
How to enter…
Simply create a recording of yourself playing along to any track you have created using all, or at least some loops from, the SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 2 – Kirk Whalum special edition app or loop pack.
Email your recording to us at competition@sessionbandapp.com either as audio or video (or, if you prefer, upload your recording to YouTube and send us the link) before the 30th November 2020. Don’t forget to include your contact details and make the email subject line: ‘KIRK WHALUM COMPETITION’.
The best entry will win a 2-hour personal Zoom-based ‘masterclass’ with Kirk Whalum in which he will work with you to help better your improvisation technique – whatever your level of skill!

Competition terms and conditions
- The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 except immediate family of the promoter (UK Music Apps Ltd) and anyone professionally associated with SessionBand apps and loop packs.
- No purchase is necessary but entries must incorporate (all or at least some) loops from the SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 2 – Kirk Whalum special artist edition app or loop pack. There is a free sample download pack available at www.sessionbandloops.com.
- The competition promoter is UK Music Apps Ltd, London UK. Company registered in England. Reg No 082006084.
- There is one prize of a personal, Zoom-based masterclass session with Kirk Whalum which can be taken at a mutually convenient time before 31st December 2020. The free session will last 2 hours.
- No alternative prize is offered and there is no cash substitute.
- UK Music Apps Ltd reserves the right to promote any entry along with the name of the entrant on its website or social media channels.
- The winning entry will be the one that the judges feel demonstrates the most exciting use of the SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 2 app/loop pack as a creative tool for improvising instrumentalists. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The judging panel will be Kirk Whalum and Geoff Gascoyne from SessionBand.
- The competition will run from 16th October 2020 until midnight (GMT) on 30th November 2020. No entries can be accepted after this deadline. The winner will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date.
- By entering the competition, entrants agree to participate in reasonable publicity in the event that they are the winner. This may include use of their creative work alongside their name on various websites, social media and other promotional/marketing channels.
- Audio/video recordings (or link to your YouTube video) to be emailed to: competition@sessionbandapp.com
All recordings to be no more than 5 minutes in duration.
